PICT to help Neo Accel set up R&D centre in Pune

NeoAccel, a pioneering innovator of next-generation Internet security solutions and Pune Institute of Computer Technology (PICT), today announced an agreement to promote System Engineering talent. Accordingly, PICT will help NeoAccel set-up an R&D center in Pune and actively promote System Engineering knowledge transfer by way of collaborative projects. NeoAccel had earlier announced Rs 50 crore investment for R&D operations in India.

PICT has always believed in close industry interface and this has helped it produce professionals of very high quality. Partnership with NeoAccel today is one more step in that direction. My students to play a part in this R&D, will be a validation of our vision to be the best Computer Science institute”, said Dr. N. Ramakrishna, Chairman, Pune Institute of Computer Technology. “India’s strengths in application development is well acknowledged and it is time that Systems Engineering gets its due as the fundamental building block of information technology developments,” he added.

Dr N Ramakrishna is the founder and the chairman of Pune Institute of Computer Technology. He is acknowledged for his contribution in the field of IT education. He promoted, as a Founder Trustee, the Pune Institute of Computer Technology, which was and is the first institute of its kind, offering a specialized 4-year degree course in Computer Engineering specializing in Hardware and Software and affiliated to the University of Poona. Mr. Ramakrishna is an entrepreneur and promoter who has founded a successful company like LECTROTEK SYSTEMS which have won prestigious awards like The International Business Excellence Award.
An alumni of PICT, NeoAccel’s Chairman and CEO Michel Susai is the founder and former Chairman and CEO of NetScaler (now Citrix Systems), where he invented Request Switching, a fundamental internet acceleration technology that up to 75 percent of Internet users go through each day to visit the world’s highest-traffic websites, such as Google, MSN, Ticketmaster and MLB.com. NetScaler was acquired in 2005 by Citrix Systems (NASDAQ: CTSX) for more than U.S.$300 million.
